The Collectors

The reason we know so much about the old songs and singers is due to the work of enthusiasts who have taken the trouble to seek out and record the performers.  In the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, this work would have been done with pencil and notebook, but later by cylinder recorder (yes), more modern tape recorders and now by video.  Click on the links below to find out more about the individual song collectors.
